The Story of the Lodge
For a long time, housing volunteer teams has been a challenge for us because our available options are restricted by high cost, limited space, or a long drive. We have had to turn volunteers away because there was simply no place to put them. God willing, that will soon change with the completion of the mission team cabin.
Several years back, we were donated a piece of land to build a youth center; when the location proved to be a barrier to that project, we decided to build housing for mission teams instead. In 2005, volunteers poured the piers and laid beams to form the foundation.
Several teams started in June 2006 building the walls and putting the cabin under roof. This facility houses up to 28 people at once, with four and a half baths and five bunk rooms; the cabin also includes a dining room and a fully functional kitchen. (kitchen includes: pots/pans, 2 large slow cookers, dishes, silverware, misc. kitchen tools, stock pots, hand towels, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, 2 large refrigerators)
